How it works

Every one of the 197 nations on the world map has exactly one coin. Take a nation and you lead it. Buy into one and you are a citizen of it. The map keeps score.

01

Claiming a nation

A country is claimed by launching its coin through the Pons factory on Robinhood Chain and registering the token here. NEIGHBOURHOODS does not launch anything itself. The launch transaction goes from your wallet straight to the Pons factory, and the site records that the coin represents that country.

Three things must be exactly right or the claim is refused. The token's name must be the country's name. Its ticker must be the country's name, or its three letter code when the name is too long for a ticker field. Its icon must be the outline of that country in #F0902B on a flat grey field, with nothing else on the canvas.

The icon is checked geometrically against the real border, not by eye. The exact file you need is generated for you on the claim page. Use it and the check passes on the first attempt.

One wallet holds one nation, and a nation can be claimed once. There is no second France.

02

Economy and population

A nation's economy is the market capitalisation of its coin. Its population is the number of wallets holding that coin. Both are read from public sources every minute and printed on the map inside the country's own borders.

World population is the holder count of the hub token. Every country coin is a province of the same world, and the hub is the only place that whole world is counted in one number.

Loyalty is the share of a nation's citizens who also hold the hub. It is the one ranking on the board that cannot be moved by a single large purchase, because it measures how many separate people committed rather than how much money did.

03

Government

Everyone holding a nation's coin is its government. A working president cannot be touched. A president who has not been seen for fourteen days can be removed by a vote of the people still holding.

Voting power is your token balance at the moment you cast the ballot, read from the chain. Selling afterwards does not unwind your vote and buying after a motion closes does nothing. A motion needs both a majority and a quorum, so a handful of wallets cannot unseat anyone on their own.

04

Doctrine

A country is not only a market cap. Any citizen can put a doctrine to their nation at any time, and the nation votes on it weighted by what each wallet holds. A referendum runs for a day and needs a tenth of held supply to turn out for the result to count.

A doctrine is not a label. Every one of them moves the nation up one ranking and down another. Industry counts the day's trading toward the economy and halves loyalty. Open borders doubles loyalty and costs a fifth of the nation's war strength. Conscription buys a third more war strength for a tenth of the economy. Isolation closes the border in both directions: nobody can attack the nation and the nation cannot attack anyone, for fifteen percent of the economy. Free market is the default and does nothing at all, which is what makes the others a decision.

So the way to change a country is to hold it while a vote is live. That is the whole mechanism, and it is the reason the rankings move for reasons other than money arriving.

05

War

A president may declare war on another claimed nation. Wars run for one day. Both sides must have held their ground for at least six hours, and a nation must rest for twelve hours between wars.

You do not capture land. You capture people. Two thirds of the score is the citizens and one third is the money, so a war cannot be bought outright with a single buy. When the clock runs out, every wallet holding both nations' coins is counted for whichever side it holds more of by value. Taking population off a rival means convincing their citizens to put more into your coin than they hold of their own.

The winner annexes a share of the loser's population, and that share follows them onto the leaderboard. Nothing is transferred on chain. No wallet is touched. The ledger simply records who is winning.

06

What this site is not

NEIGHBOURHOODS never holds your funds, never requests a token approval and never signs a transaction for you. Connecting a wallet proves who you are and does nothing else. Every trade happens on Pons or a Uniswap V3 pool on Robinhood Chain, not here.

Country tokens are created by other visitors. They have no affiliation with, and no endorsement from, any real country, government or public body. They are memecoins and they routinely go to zero. Nothing on this site is investment advice.
